In this month’s edition of our Employee Spotlight series, we talked to EMEA Account Manager, Diego Montoya. Diego shares his top tips for making remote working a success, welcomed changes he has seen in the industry since starting his career, and the best aspects of his role at AP.
Can you tell us more about your role at AP as Account Manager and what this involves?
I work on the EMEA Client Services team for one of our key eCommerce clients. Within my role, I on-board new partners and manage a large portfolio of affiliate partners to maximise sales for the client.
In your role, which aspects are the most interesting?
One of the biggest advantages of working on a large programme is that you have the chance to collaborate with various affiliate types. To get the most out of the partnership, you really have to understand how they work and what makes them tick. For example, content and Google CSS partners are polar opposites, but the process of understanding them is really interesting!
What changes have you seen in the industry, since you started your career?
Transparency is one of the biggest changes that I have seen over the years, from working with partners with nothing more than a numerical campaign ID, to having visibility over domains and sources. This really helps to benefit the partnership. Another welcomed change is the growing importance of affiliate marketing within wider company marketing strategies.
What are your top tips for making remote working a success?
Starting your day in the right mindset is key. Therefore, it’s important to have a morning routine, whether it’s working out in the morning or getting the kids to school. Also, whether you have your own office or if it’s a corner in your living room, it’s vital that you have a workspace that enables you to be productive and motivated!
Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time?
I have two beautiful girls, aged three and one, so they keep me very busy. As I work from home, I’m always looking to get out of the house during the weekend, whether it’s going to the zoo, the park, or even a lavender field. Anything to tire them out so I can put my feet up at the end of the day!
Where’s the best place you’ve travelled to?
Thailand is definitely my favourite. In Bangkok I was able to experience the big city, in Chiang Mai I was able to explore nature and the Thai traditions, and in Krabi I was able to relax by the seafront.
